Its mission is to create an online destination for the mechanical engineering community, where working professionals can quickly find a variety of information to aid in the solution of complex design problems. Sections included on the Web site include materials, processes, units & constants, formulas, mathematics, design center, cool calculators, a message board, and "Ask Dr. Funda!" (requires registration).

A Dictionary of Units of Measurement - This dictionary, provided by Russ Rowlett and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, includes a) definitions of all the units of the International System of Units (SI), including conversion factors, abbreviation or symbol (for many), and a large number of links intended to cross-reference between units; b) many other units of the metric system; c) various non-metric scientific units; d) units of the English traditional systems; e) selected traditional units from cultures other than English; and f) other measurement terms and notations.
